Kara is an emerging writer born and raised in Fremantle, Western Australia. She holds a BA in Creative Writing from Edith Cowan University, and writes for NYAD, a blog interested in exploring the lives and experiences of all women. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in ECU's Creative Arts Exhibition Catalogue and Graduate Show, and the annual poetry magazine Primo Lux. She placed third in the 2014 Talus Prize, and has several pieces self-published online.

She is particularly interested in literature, linguistics and languages, history, animals, and exploring her country's natural wonders. As a writer, she loves multimedia and epistolary fiction, writing about historical settings and alternate worlds, incorporating modern technology into contemporary fiction, fantasy themes, and diverse representation of marginalised groups.

She is also an amateur artist and photographer. Her RedBubble portfolio displays a range of her work available for purchase, and her photography is also shared on Instagram.
